„When it comes to participation in tackling scientific issues, Europeans seem to have a rather passive and/or modest attitude. Two thirds of the EU population is of the opinion that participation in a debate about a scientific topic they are interested in should be
restricted to scientists and other experts as they are the best placed to exchange their views on the matter (65%). Only 16% declared they were willing to take part in such a debate themselves as they believe they can bring something to it.“
